82 | (% style="color: rgb(0,0,0);" %)This course is an introduction to geochemistry, with a specific emphasis on isotope geochemistry. After covering the basics of atoms, nuclei and isotopes, the lectures include the concepts of nucleosynthesis, nuclear energy, radioactivity, potassium-argon, uranium-thorium-lead-helium, rubidium-strontium dating methods, extinct radionuclides, as well as stable isotope geochemistry. Subsequently, the formation of the solar system, Earth and of the inner planets is considered. This includes discussion of early and present day Earth processes, surface geochemistry (including cosmogenic isotopes and U-Th radioactive chains) and global change. Each lecture lasting 90 mn is followed by 3 hours dedicated practical work. The evaluation is undertaken by a 3 hour-long final examination | ||
